You may request before the Spanish tax Administration, only once, at the latest on the fifth month after the death, a six-month deferment with no penalties. In said conditions, the inheritance tax return may be submitted, without penalties, at the latest a year after the date of death. After the period of this new deferment and whatever the reason for a new delay, the penalties will be applied with effect on the sixth month after the death.
