The regulation on authentic acts (EU regulation 2016/1191), which was adopted on 6 July 2016 and applies in all EU countries as of 16 February 2019, exempts from apostille both notarial acts and administrative documents as long as their primary purpose is to establish birth, marriage, divorce, name, parenthood, adoption, domicile, nationality, death, etc. Outside this scope of application, the Hague Apostille remains necessary.
